Transferring PT3 DB between 2 PCs

Postby dannyhb » Fri Apr 18, 2008 4:59 pm

I'm going away for a week soon and want to take my laptop to play some poker,
is it possible to transfer my current PT3 DB from my PC to a clean install of the
latest PT3 beta on my laptop? How would I go about doing this? What files would
I need to transfer/overwrite? :? (I do have a PT2 licence!)

We have not yet added the import/export database option into PokerTracker 3 but you can still do it, albeit manually. Check out:

pg_dump

pg_restore

To Backup

Go Start->Run, 'cmd' OK.

At the command prompt type:
Code: Select all
cd "C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\bin"

Note: C:\Program Files is the typical PostgreSQL installation directory but may be different on your computer. Change accordingly.

Then type:
Code: Select all
pg_dumpall > pt3_database.out

Enter your database user password and your backup database will be dumped to the file named 'pt3_database.out'.

To Restore

Go Start->Run, 'cmd' OK.

At the command prompt type:
Code: Select all
cd "C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\bin"

Then type:
Code: Select all
psql -f pt3_database.out postgres

Note: 'postgres' is your database user account name

Best regards,

Derek
