Question re: database

Postby colossk » Tue Aug 23, 2011 2:33 pm

Heres my question:

If I'm playing over 4-5 different sites at once and datamining 4 different limits 6 max and Full Ring at all those sites my databases tend to get real big real quick.

Instead of having one LARGE database am I better off to do the following for faster performance increases when using a hud?

Creat a different database for each site? So each site would have it's own unique datatabase. Will this cause a decrease in performance having PT3 constantly scan 5 different databases at once? Am I better off with 1 large database instead? I'd be playing 8-9 tables at once over the 4-5 different sites. Is there a FAQ on how to do this?

Thanks

Having one database instead of 5 will reduce the number of concurrent open connections required and thus will result in somewhat better performance.

Even if we are talking about having 10-15 million observed hands in the last 2-3 months?

Yes you're getting only cached data so the size of the individual databases doesn't matter for HUD speed. But quintupling the number of connections open is going to consume considerable amounts of extra RAM and processing time.
