PostgreSQL will not load

whats wrong, i have turned firewall off, using F-secure.

How did you install postgres?
Where is that logging from?

No, never worked.
Through PT-install 3.0
Log is from : C:\Programmer\PostgreSQL\8.3\data\pg_log

Did the installer complete OK?
What O/S are you using? (Vista, XP, etc..)

I'll get one of our postgres experts to take a look at this thread when they come on, but the more information you can give us in the meantime the better.

I'm using XP.

The installer stops when it says Starting Services.

Proces and program is running.

I have disconnected my firewall, using F-secure.

After it tries to start services an error comes up saying "Sercice postgreSQL database server 8.3 failed to start.Verify that you have sufficent privileges to start system service.

Sorry, I thought you said you'd turned F-Secure off before - there is a known problem with F-Secure and postgres so you will need to disable it.

You will need to be logged into XP as an administrator.
Are you in a user domain? That can cause problems too.

For some people just turning off F-secure isn't enough as well you'll need to actually completely uninstall the software. We haven't been able to determine what is the cause for these users but I know at least some of them are following up with F-secure to see what needs to be done to get this fixed.
