Moving Current PT3 Database / postgreSQL to other drive

Postby malfaire » Wed May 21, 2008 2:35 am

So I currently have everything installed on my C:\ and I was in an upheaval as I was running out of space. I'd like to move PT3 and postgreSQL to my D:\ (another internal SATA drive).

Is this possible? How do I best do this?

Export your database. Goto start -> programs -> postgresql -> pgAdmin III. Click on postgresql database, and put your password if required. Now, click on databases, and right click on your database -> backup... Save the file. You can now delete postgresql and pokertracker3. Install on the new harddrive and once installed, again, open pgAdmin III. Now right click on databases -> new... and create a database. Now right click on that database and select restore. Select you backed up database.

Now just install PT3 on that hard drive. When you install it and register it (put your key in), go to database -> database management. The database that is selected, click on edit, click on the checkbox for this database already exists, and click on browse. Find the database you just created in postgresql. Click OK... Welcome to the new HD :)
