VAL HOLE CARD USED (counted kicker?), hole_card suited

Postby marvin » Tue Sep 15, 2009 5:58 am

* hand #1: If i have a pair with a kicker not on the board (i.e: i have AQ on board QT9-6-5) my val_hole card used is 1 or 2? my hand would be QQAT9 in other words the chicker is counted like used, if i use it?
* hand#2: in this other situation: A2 on board A48-T-J my val_hole_card_used is 1, right?
* hand#3: i have A8 on board 99T-6-4, flag_r_1pair is true, my hand is in this case 99AT8, but val_card used is...? (each of my cards are used like kickers, but are counted?)
* hand#4: i have A2 on board 99T-6-4, flag_r_1pair is true, my hand is in this case 99AT6, but val_card used is 0 or 1...? (1 of my cards are used like kicker but the pair is on board)
*if hand#1 has val_hole card used=2, how can i discriminate from the hands when i have poket pair? i thinK:
i have paired on board and kicker in hole if is true: "val_x_hole_card=2 and flag_r_1pair and not (hole_card1=hole_card2)"
i have poket pair if is true: "rank of hole_card1=rank of hole_card2", or otherwise, if "flag_P_1pair" is true... but flag on preflop doesn't exist and i dont know how exctrating the rank of hole card...
-----
there is a way for excracting the suite of holecards? i.e if i wish count the time when a villain has limped with suited cards in my stats...

I am fairly certain that my interpretation is correct, but I am going to double check just to be certain.

I believe that you are considered to use hole cards when they move you up a whole group of hands. (I'll call hole cards used HCU from here on out to save on typing.)

Hand #1: With AQ on a QT965 board, HCU is 1. You have One Pair and you use one hole card to get there. The kicker strength fields are not working properly but they are what you would use to see what your kicker was.
Hand #2: A2 on a A48TJ board HCU is 1.
Hand #3: A8 on a 99T64 board HCU would be 0.
Hand #4: A2 on a 99T64 board HCU is still 0 - the reason you have one pair does not use either of your hole cards.

To answer your follow up question, if you look at id_f_hand_strength, when you have a pocket pair the value is always >= 4. It's 4 if it's an underpair to the board, 5 if it's a middle pair, and 6 if it's an overpair. This only holds for when flg_f_1pair is true. For more on id_x_hand_strength see this post it may be the field you've been looking for.

To extract the hole cards value, you use the lookup_from_id function, see this post for the details.

TY, but are you sure about poket pair the id is >6? is not 4? (when i have a flg_1pair true)

That was my fault, yes I meant 4 (I was looking at the two pair values yesterday and must have gotten them mixed up). I've edited my post to be correct for future readers who might run across this thread.
