Tableaverage

Postby Softball » Mon Mar 31, 2008 4:43 am

Hi there,

recently I started to use the tableaveragestats. At “preferences” you can define “hands used for averages”. I’ve choosen “15” because I thought the average of the last 15 hands of all players would give me an idea of what was going on at the table recently. But I guess I misunderstood this “hands used for average”-thing. Because every time I calculated the average of Vol. put in pot from all players AND ALL HANDS, it was exact the number that was written as tableaverage. So the program is using all hands, right? that’s a shame, because I would like to have the average of the last 1 or two rounds. Is this possible somehow? Any help would be apriciated.

From memory, the number of hands used for table averages refers to things like the average pot - I can't remember if it affects anything else, but as you've noticed it doesn't affect vp$ip and other stats like that.

I am talking about the averagenumber of "Vol. put in Pot". And I think I found out whats going on. The filter just dosn't work. The programm uses allways any stats, except you decide to take a certin number of hands for each player, but this reduces the quality of the player stats.

I don't think it "doesn't work", I think it's not designed to do what you expected. I may be wrong, maybe support can confirm/deny..?

So... then for the dummies... what is it about, in your eyes?

By the way: Thanks for the answer! :D

As I said, from memory, I think it only applies to things PAH reads directly from the hand histories, like pot size, rather than stats it gets from PT2.
I'm sure Derek (APerfect10) will be along at some point to elaborate..

See [url=http://www.pokertracker3.com/products/PAH/docs/?page=cfgprefgeneralt53]Configuring the General tab[/urlt53] which states what this setting is for...

It is only for the average pot size. All other stats are the average of the hands that you have for the players (which is much more accurate and reliable). Why would you want a small sample size when you have a larger, more accurate one?

Best regards,

Derek

I guess there would be a place for a PAH-calculated "real" vp$ip stat based on the last X hands so that you can see how the table is playing recently, rather than a total of how this set of players plays overall. (i.e. count the number of players putting money in from the hand history directly, like you do with pot-size, rather than [or as well as] using the DB stats)
For instance you might get a table with a complete maniac which causes other players to loosen up too, so even normally tight players might be playing more hands at the moment.
