Postgres difficulties

Receiving the following message after attempting to convert to postgressgl

Error connecting to the Postgressql database
101-SQLSTATE= 08001
could not connect to server: connection refused (0x0000274D/10061)
Is the server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432.

Can someone please help

It means the PostgreSQL service isn't running, restart the computer and try it again.

If it still gives this error, go to the Start menu and select Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services

Find PostgreSQL 8.x.... in the list and attempt to start it. If it gives an error, tell me what the error is. If it doesn't, try PT again.

Ok now PT says my database needs to be repaired. I've tried to repair it and I keep receiving the following two messages. DATABASE C:\PROGRAM FILES\POKER TRACKER V2\ptrack.mdb needs to be repaired. Followed by ODBC Microsoft Access Driver Login- Invalid argument After repair attempt I get Error:Access Violation at 0x1139a649 (tried to read from 0x00000001), program terminated. Tracker then shuts down

Did you convert that database to PostgreSQL yet?? If you did then you need to do steps 3-5 in the After PostgreSQL is installed section here

I have not converted that database to postgres sql. I have completed step 1 and when I try to complete step 2 I receive the following error message error connecting to the hand history database 0- transaction already connected. Or it says database needs to be repaired.

With Poker Tracker closed, try repairing the database following the steps listed here:

Repair worked and conversion began, until I received the following two error messages.

Error
A Database error has occured
DB Code: 7 Error Text: SQL state = 22003
Error smallint out of range;
error while executing the query

No change made to database

Insert into game_players (game_id, player_id, seat_number, button) values 649017280, 1088643544, 3801156, 5242972.

After receiving this message I was able to continue converting until I received the following message

Error creating index_game_players_10x_01
7-SQLState+23505
Error could not create unique index
table contains duplicated values
error while executing the query

Those errors mean your database file is corrupted. You should.

1. Use the Utilities > Export Hand Histories To File window to export all your hands to text files.
2. Create a new database using the File > Maintain Database Names window. Click the Add button, enter a description then in the last field choose "Create new, empty Access database". Click OK to save all changes.
3. Go to the Utilities > Convert Database window and select this NEW database to be converted to PostgreSQL. This should take about 30 seconds.
4. Go back to the File > Maintain Database Names window. You should see a new entry there, the one for your new, empty PostgreSQL database. Make this the default by checking the "Dflt" box next to that entry. Click OK to save.
5. CLOSE AND REOPEN POKER TRACKER.
6. Go to the File > Auto-Import... > Generic Setup window.
Click the "Look for files on my PC" box and at the bottom use that to navigate to the folder where you exported all your hands to in the first step above. Click OK.
On the next window, click the Stop Timer button.
Make sure the "auto-rate on import" box is UNCHECKED.
Now click the Force Import button.

Just let this run, PT will run through and reimport all the hands into the new PostgreSQL db. It should be able to do about 30,000 hands/hour.
