deleting PT2 dbs

I'm trying to delete some PT2 postgres DBs

I went to maintain db names, and removed it from the list
then went to db functions, and selected the db from the "delete a database" drop down menu

ANd I deleted it...

And I happened to have a PT3 db with the same name, and it deleted that....

is that normal ? or whats up

it kinda sucks that I just deleted a 2million+ hand PT3 database that I use

or how to I delete PT2 dbs, that happen to have the same name as some PT3 dbs ?

It's not possible to have 2 databases with the same database name on the same port #, so you must have 2 different port #'s setup within PT2 on the PostgreSQL settings window. In the dropdown list of databases to select it shows the port # associated with each entry so you need to make sure you select the correct one.

I checekd the utilties ->postgresql settings menu, and I see the post listed as 5432, but there is no dropdown list of other ports

also in my list of databases in the list of "delete a database" menu, it only shows dbs with 5432 port also...

It's not possible then that the databases were the exact same names. You cannot have 2 databases with the same name, if you tried to create one it would give an error that it already existed. So it had to have been that maybe the names were similar but not identical. Note that the names you call them within the PT programs are just descriptions, these are not the same as the database names in PostgreSQL. If you open the File > Maintain Database Names window in PT, you see the name/description which is what you see and then in the last field you see the "real" name as used in PostgreSQL.
