Number of Players Filtered/Tournament Stacks question

I have
Number of Players Filtered selected for 10-7 players , 6-4 players and 3-2 players

and Tournament Stacks turned on for the BB stacks, like
player stack 1-4bb show hands with 1-4bb , player stack 5-10 show hands with........BB,etc

So if you start with a sng table/or right now i play some steps, with all of them unknown. Do you get "good" reliable stats easily with number of players and tournament stacks turned on???

Would you leave both of those options on for the sessions or would you only activate one of these tools????

I cant play right now thats why i looked in the hud options a little and this was the question that came up.

Any opinions appreciated....

I'm afraid I'm not much of a tournament player so I can't really answer you from experience. In theory if you play enough of those tournaments you should get good data. I guess one question you might want to ask yourself is if you have 5 hands on someone at 20BB and he loses a big pot and now has 4BB do you want to see your 5 hands of data or would you rather see nothing at all?

So i figure , if i plan on grinding certain stakes/levels on a regular basis with some kind of samplesize, both options turned on at the same time would be getting me good numbers.
It makes sense to me that the number of players filter is giving me good feedback on sng type of games and / or the Finaltable tourney type of games.
On the other hand the Tournament Stack filter is useful for Tourney but i can also see me using it in Sng type of games.

I guess i have to figure out when to use the both of them or only one of the features in certain games by trying it out.

Why you have to filter in two examples:

Example 1:
You are getting HU with regular "REGULUS". You have played 20 SNGs with him but it´s the first time you are HU vs him. You are 22 BBs deep. You find AQo and open for a minraise. He 3bets. You glance at his 3bet stat. Its 4%. Clear fold.

The thing is, you gathered thousands of hands with this player from completely irrelevant situations (9,8,7 handed play) that make your HUD not only worthless but deceiving.

Example 2:
You are on the bubble with fish "SPEWMONKEY BACKWARDS". You have played 20 SNGs with him but it´s the first time you are on the bubble with him. His understanding of SNG play is to double up or go out. Until it´s 5 or 4 handed he will play 40/20, in the first level he plays 80/20. In case he makes it near the bubble though he will nit it up. Now his goal is to reward himself for his good plays before and "slide" into the money. So while 4 handed he plays only JJ+ and AK you still see his monkeyspew stats and will make huge mistakes against him.

So in short: Since the stacksize and relative chip position dictate radically different plays wih the same cards you have to filter this situations apart. Otherwise you have all lumped together and it is complete nonsense.

I play almost exclusively SNGs since 2007 and have the following filters:

9,8,7 handed
6,5 handed
4 handed
3 handed
HU

50+ BB
30-50 BB
20-30 BB
12-20 BB
5-12 BB
0-5 BB

When you do this you will sometimes be frustrated when you have no data when the bubble starts or when HU starts. But two things:

1) No data is much better than false data. Play as if he is a competent regular (e.g has similar ranges than you would) unless
2) You sometimes will remember a player you meet deeper in the tourney (this was the goofball who called a 3bet for half his stack with A3 and hit two pair against AK), if this never happens you play too many tables.

Also you may want to turn off all automatic notetaking and than think what would be useful to know and build this note (I do not find the prebuilt usefull). Example: I like to know my Opp range when they shove SB vs BB 5-12BB deep. When I know this very specific range I can sometimes call w K9 and will sometimes fold A9.
Or what range Opp stacks preflop in level 1 when he starts the hand with 30BB+. I have Opp where I fold KK to their 4bet because their range is KK+. Other opponents stack AJo or T9s in that situation so I can happily push/call JJ.

I set my number of players filtered like you noted. So you are playing sngs .

I had been playing steps the last couple of days to get into some of the WCOOP events.

For steps it would be useful to set individual bubble filters right? At least thats what i am going to do,
if i play some more of them


But how do you set your player stacks filter?
In the Hud options configuration i cannot select
50+ BB
30-50 BB
20-30 BB
12-20 BB
5-12 BB
0-5 BB

instead PT4 leaves me a choice of 30-inf,56-inf,....,3-15,5-10,5-20,1-10,1-4,1-15 BBs
to filter/show hands with for Tournament Stacks.

Can I ask if you guys are playing STTs or multi-table SnGs?
